I had been coming on holiday to Potters Resort since I was 5 years old. I had always loved the atmosphere, the service and the friendly attitude of the team, I decided that I wanted to try it for myself and applied for a job.
Now my dream holiday has become my career, since starting work with Potters I have been a receptionist, a bar team member and I am currently a bar team leader. As I have moved roles and developed, I have learnt so much more than I expected in terms of what it takes to progress within the hospitality industry and through my team leader role I am continuously learning new skills. I am part of Potters Resort Development Academy and I cannot wait to keep progressing and learning.
For me, the best thing about working at Potters Resort is the opportunities that are on offer. When I first joined the Resort I was quite nervous but the team I work with and my managers have really guided and supported me in developing my confidence. I have attended in-house training sessions which have given me confidence in speaking with guests face to face as well as problem solving and the importance of delivering exceptional guest service.
The skills I have learnt, and am still learning, not only help me at work but in my life outside of work too. I am really proud of myself that when a new starter joined our team that I now believe in myself enough to support them with ‘learning the ropes’ and giving advice based on my own experiences.
I have been working at Potters Resort for the last 6 months and I love every minute. From the moment I arrived for my interview the guests and staff were all smiling and there was a really lovely atmosphere. Being a part of someone’s holiday experience is really rewarding and being given the opportunity to make their stay with us memorable is really special.
I feel really valued as an employee, in the few months that I have been working here I have been nominated for ‘Best New-Comer’ at the Annual Awards Evening, attended the complimentary ‘Spring Fling’ with my new colleagues and even received an Easter egg!
From my first part time job in a local restaurant, I knew that hospitality was for me. For me I really enjoyed talking with customers face to face and having the time to get to know them and their needs. I knew I wanted to progress within the industry but I wasn’t sure where to start – then I saw the advert for a Trainee Manager.
I am 9 months into the 18 month long programme and I have discovered talents and skills that I never knew I had. My confidence in myself has grown even within a short space of time. Through experiencing different aspects of hospitality I can already see a pathway to where I want my career to take me to in the future.
The busy environment and opportunities to meet new people every day really inspires me to be the best I can be every day and I aim every week to make someone’s stay at Potters Resort a memorable experience that will stay with them for years to come.
Potters Resort is the first company that I have worked for. I remember being extremely nervous attending my first interview but the manager interviewing me understood this and really helped me relax. I am in my first year of college so working casual hours really suits me as I can be flexible around my studies.
I work with a great team of people and although hospitality isn’t going to be my long term career, I really enjoy coming into work and gaining new experiences and skills which I can take forward with me in the future.
For anyone starting out or looking for their first job I would highly recommend Potters.
My first job in the UK was with Potters Resort. I really loved the atmosphere across the Resort and I enjoyed the fact that no two days are the same. I quickly settled into my role as a bar team member and found that a career in hospitality was definitely what I wanted to do.
Through hard work and dedication, along with the support of Potters I was able to progress from a bar team member to bars supervisor, I then transferred to the restaurant department as assistant manager and I am now proud to say that I have been the Restaurant Manager for the last 3 years.
If you are committed to a career in hospitality and willing to put the work in, then Potters Resort is definitely the place to be.
